What PSM I covers

Professional Scrum Master I validates a fundamental understanding of the Scrum framework as defined in the Scrum Guide, and the ability to apply it. The assessment covers Scrum theory and empiricism, the Scrum Team and its accountabilities, the five events, the three artefacts and their commitments, the Scrum Values, and how a Scrum Master serves the team and the wider organisation.

Who it is for

Scrum Masters, developers and managers working on or alongside a Scrum Team who want a recognised, evidence-based credential.

Before you book

None. Scrum.org sets no formal prerequisite, though practical exposure to Scrum helps considerably.

How to prepare for PSM I

  1. 01
    Work through the course

Cover every PSM I topic with lessons and a knowledge check at the end of each module.

  2. 02
    Practise topic by topic

Drill the areas you get wrong rather than re-reading what you already know.

  3. 03
    Sit a timed mock exam

80 questions in 60 minutes, scored at 85%. Time pressure is the part most candidates underestimate.

  4. 04
    Review and repeat

Your dashboard tracks accuracy by topic across attempts, so you can see what is actually improving.

PSM I questions candidates ask

You need 85%, which is 68 of 80 questions. This is a high bar by certification standards, and most candidates who fail are within a few questions of it, so precision on artefact commitments and event timeboxes matters more than breadth.
